Mint vs. Alternate in EMS Playoffs

Posted by: Corin

After an impressive comeback against n!faculty last night to make it through to the playoffs of the ESL Major Series, tonight London Mint are once again taking on the top of the German scene, this time in the form of Team Alternate. The match will kick off at 7PM BST.

From here on it is a double elimination tournament, so neither Mint nor Alternate will be crashing out of the event just yet, but both teams will still be as eager as ever to bring home the victory tonight, giving them a safer route to the final!

Team Alternate : mEiJinp JLN GreX Head ej

London Mint's Chenery had this to say before the match :

Oooooh how I love to play these guys, we've played them many times online and at LAN and we usually are victorious, it's always a really close and emotional game though, let's hope this time the server is suitable for both teams so it can be a fair fight, gonna be a great match for the spectators!

eSca from Team Alternate said :

We are proud to play against our first enemy in the second ESL Major Series Playoffs. After the group stage with a few leaving teams, we are happy to take part in the playoffs. All teams playing in this tournament are good and so all teams have to prepare a lot. Both participants of the relegation are good teams, national and international. We hope that all spectators will have a good Match and wish our opponent good luck and fun.

The SourceTV IP for this match is yet to be announced, but it should be available shortly before the match in #LondonMint. Best of luck to both teams!

Update
You can watch this game on tv1.verygames.de:28004 and bcast01.blank-tv.de:50000, or follow the live IRC scorebot in #esl.css.live3 on QuakeNet.

Result:
Having won the first half 10-5, Mint were stunned in the second half by some very strong defensive play by Team Alternate, who defeated Mint in the penultimate round, giving a final score of Team Alternate 16 - 13 London Mint.

After the game, Mint's Chenery stated :

It wasn't a good ct side from us, after winning the pistol round we should have won 15-0 or 14-1, but we didnt adapt to them, and we deserved to lose.

We'll win from lower bracket tho ;)

Because of this loss Mint drop to the lower bracket where they will face hoorai.XQ sometime in the next week. Make sure you keep watching this space for an update of when that game is!
