ChrisyB Post World Finals

Posted by: xilef

Overall, how was the experience in LA? How did it compare to last season?

The experience was very different this year, because whilst I and the team were in LA, it wasn't World Final time so their was none of that magic feeling I felt last year. It all seemed over to quickly as well although overall the experience was still a valuable one.

The first game against Salvo didn't exactly go to plan. What were you feeling after the game, and what do you think you (individually and as a team) should have done differently?

In hindsight I don’t think we could have done much more performance wise. I knew before the game Salvo we’re slightly stronger than us on paper, so when they got pretty much all the maps they wanted and character match ups that suited them it wasn’t good for us. Add to this the admin issues in the very 1st game of the night handing “sarah lou” a flattering victory it seemed like something was against us. My game followed and I was a bit angry at the admins for what had happened in the game before, maybe that’s why my focus wasn’t so great in the 1st half of the match, I don’t know. Overall my performance deserved the win…but I didn’t get it. Then Source followed and they needed to win, Salvo thrived on the momentum, and won big, Game Over. After the game we decided to forget about the match, it just wasn’t our night. We had ended well though which was a good feeling for the team, especially Paddaman. We we’re obviously disappointed deep down inside but we had no time to think about what “could have been”, we had to focus on the Stockholm game the next day.

You seemed to all pull it out against Magnetik, what was different in that game?

We played Normal. It’s really that simple, nothing went wrong admin wise and the random map choices weren’t perfect but ok. I knew this could happen before the match and it went better than planned. Paddaman again performed and proved all his critics wrong to close out the game in style, it was a perfect franchise win and I believe the 1st white wash of the 2008 season.

How did it feel to beat your training partner Istvan in one of the biggest games of your career?

I wouldn’t go as far as calling it one of the biggest games of my career but it was a nice victory. I knew my team we’re stronger on all other games and Fifa was only ever going to be +1 or -1, pressure was on Istvan to win by a couple of goals, so I was able to just relax and perform well, in the end I won 2-0 and I guess I was unlucky to not win by more. After the disaster against Bazza, it was redeeming for me to beat one of the best players in Europe. Istvan has helped me a lot over the last couple of months in order for me to catch up with Europe’s best in the PC World after my FIWC participation, so it was a weird victory beating my training partner.

The Optx game looked like you had it in the bag at the start, what went wrong?

The Optx game was possibly one of our strongest tests yet, and before the game my personal feelings were that we needed to make up whatever points we lost from DOA in the other 3 games. That’s no disrespect to our DOA Players but a compliment to theirs with Vanessa being undoubtedly the best DOA Female in the World and Ninjacw ranking 2nd in the NA season, above Black Mamba and Offbeat Ninja.

Basically we didn’t get enough points out of Forza, Fifa and CSS and I think all of us will think we could have done better. The Forza guys could have won 4-3, CSS could of won 12-6, I could of won 3-0. All these points were valuable and all it would of taken is for one of us to step it up a little extra and I could of been doing this interview from LA. In the end Optx are a great Franchise and they deserved the win.

What was going through your head when Paddaman was 4-1 up and Mint were on match point, and what were your feelings after the game?

I was just gob smacked like the rest of the room, I’d personally seen DOA Male as damage limitation, before the game I’d of probably taken a 4-5 or 3-5 loss as Ninjacw is one of the best in the World. Paddaman really stepped it up and I genuinely thought during that round we were going to the World Finals. Unfortunately Ninjacw won the next 2 rounds, closing out the game and went on to win the match 5-4.

Afterwards I didn’t feel to bad, it was horrible to know we would have to pack our bags but I was proud to come so close to beating an American team, after they had been through a whole season and we had played only 4 CGS matches “ever” prior to the Optx match, some players had only played twice. We all did our best and that’s all we ever can do, I wouldn’t be surprised if Optx now go on to win the whole thing

What was the highlight of your trip?

The highlight of my trip was going to Six Flags Magic Mountain with Ben, Henry and Tom. It was such a good day and we all had a lot of fun despite getting soaking wet half way through. I’ve genuinely got a bit of a fear of going on rollercoaster’s and watching Final Destination 3 a few nights prior to the trip wasn’t the best movie choice. The LA Galaxy game was also good fun and not many people can say they’ve seen Beckham score for LA Galaxy in LA.

Any stories to tell about your time in LA?

Bryce is a mad man, I think It was after the Stockholm game where we had a party and went back to Bazza’s room (the infamous R208) and played the Hair race game, he must of fooled about 15 people that night including Mr Fatality and Heaton. I would tell you all what the Hair race is but I think it’s too valuable to share. Another funny time involved Bryce wearing a mask trying to scare people, Bryce = Legend.

Thanks for your time Chrisy.

haha

Ferus: "How do you like my game?"....not cool

Goalies won't be aiding my opposition next year,,,,,EA + CGS won't make the same mistake twice....if FIfa is the game.
